Install the Plugin

Run the installer — it places everything in the correct Revit add-ins folder automatically.

Run the installer

Double-click ArchiChecker_RevitPlugin_Setup.exe and click through the wizard. It detects your Revit version and installs the plugin files to the correct location.

Open Revit

If Revit is already open, close and reopen it. The ArchiChecker button will appear in the Add-Ins tab on the ribbon.

Generate an API Key

The plugin connects to your ArchiChecker account using an API key.

Go to Settings → Revit Setup

Or go directly to app.archichecker.com/settings/revit

Click "Generate API Key"

Copy it immediately — you won't be able to see it again. The key is tied to your organization, not your personal account. Any team member can use the same key.

Connect the Plugin

Paste your API key into the plugin to link it to your ArchiChecker account.

Click the ArchiChecker button in Add-Ins

The plugin dialog opens. On first launch, it asks for your API key.

Paste your key and click Connect

The plugin validates against the ArchiChecker server. You'll see a green "Connected" status with your organization name. Your key is saved locally so you won't need to enter it again.

Extract BIM Data

Create a project in ArchiChecker first, then extract from Revit in one click.

Create the Revit project in ArchiChecker

In the web app, add a Revit BIM project for this model. It will show as awaiting extraction until you upload from the plugin.

In Revit, click "Extract & Upload" in the plugin

From the ArchiChecker panel in Revit, run extract. The plugin reads your model and uploads structured data — usually a few seconds depending on model size.

Wait for confirmation

The extracted data is uploaded to ArchiChecker. A confirmation message appears when complete.

What gets extracted

Doors, rooms, walls, sheets, views, schedules, tags, keynotes, linked models, warnings, project info, and units.

Run Checks

Switch to ArchiChecker in your browser to run the checks.

Open your project in ArchiChecker

Go to the Projects page and open the Revit project you created. It will show extraction received, with the extracted model data available — doors, rooms, walls, and the rest of what was uploaded from Revit.

Click "Run Checks"

25 checks across 7 categories. The page updates automatically when complete and displays the report.

View Results

Browse findings organized by category, severity, and element.

Summary strip — total issues, critical count, high count, and checks passed at a glance.

Category tabs — 7 tabs: Schedule Cross-Check, Code Compliance, Door Integrity, Room Integrity, Documentation, Annotations, Model Health.

Issue cards — each finding shows severity, element name, type, level, and a clear description.

QC history — every extraction and check run is saved. Re-run after making fixes to track progress.

Troubleshooting

Plugin doesn't appear in Revit

Make sure you restarted Revit after installing. If it still doesn't appear, try uninstalling and reinstalling. Check Windows Settings → Apps to confirm it's listed.

Windows SmartScreen warning

This appears because the installer isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway. The installer is safe — it only copies plugin files to the Revit add-ins folder.

API key rejected

Verify the key hasn't been revoked in ArchiChecker settings. If you regenerated a key, the old one no longer works.

Extraction fails or times out

Very large models may take longer. Ensure you have a stable internet connection. If it persists, check that Revit can reach api.archichecker.com — some corporate firewalls block outbound connections.

No projects shown in the plugin

Create a new Revit BIM project from the ArchiChecker webapp first. The plugin only shows projects awaiting extraction.
